U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins recently announced a major investment of over $325 million across 42 projects through the Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP). This funding aims to empower American farmers, ranchers, and private landowners to enhance their operations, protect vital natural resources, and ensure the long-term productivity of agricultural lands.

The RCPP leverages public-private partnerships by pairing federal resources with private investments to tackle key environmental challenges locally. Recent improvements to the program have streamlined administrative processes, providing partners and producers greater flexibility to implement targeted, effective conservation strategies.

Across the country, funded initiatives address diverse local priorities. In Iowa, a multi-county project focuses on integrating cover crops, forage plantings, and watering systems to improve soil health and water quality while boosting livestock profitability. In Georgia, efforts led by Tall Timbers Research, Inc. will restore longleaf pine forests and protect 6,000 acres of working forest lands. Meanwhile, Texas projects will conserve coastal prairies through voluntary agricultural easements, and Washington State initiatives led by the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Indian Tribe aim to restore salmon habitats in the Nooksack River watershed.
