
Arena advances to Final Four, will make trek to Evansville
Arena advanced to the final 4 of the home talent baseball night league playoffs with a 5-3 win over visiting Sun Prairie.
The Thursday night game saw the Red Birds jump out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Arena answered with 2 in the bottom of the inning and the Aces took a 3-2 lead in the 2nd and would stay on top the rest of the way.
Zach Cady pitched six innings for the winners. He struck out 8, walked 2, and yielded 6 hits. Danny Yahnke came on in relief and pitched a 1-2-3 7th inning to nail down the win. Elijah Alt and Alan Spurley both had 2 hits. The Aces totaled 7 hits in the game against 3 different Sun Prairie pitchers. Zach Cady scored 2 runs and Jimmy Jennings was 1 for 2 with a walk and an rbi.Austin Adamowski was 3 for 3 with a double and 3 rbi for Sun Prairie. Carson Holin suffered the pitching loss.
Following the 5-3 win, Arena will now take a long trip to Evansville next Thursday night for a home talent night league semi-final game.
Evansville was a winner over Monona/McFarland 9-7. Elsewhere Columbus edged Reedsburg 1-0, and Verona slipped by Ashton 3-2.
