NFL Preseason begins this week

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WFHR / WIRI) – Professional Football is back. The opening game of the preseason will be on Thursday, August 6 in Canton, Ohio. The NFL begins its Hall of Fame weekend at Tom Benson Stadium. The Arizona Cardinals take on the Carolina Panthers at 7:00 p.m.

The enshrinement ceremony will be on Saturday where Drew Breese, Roger Craig, Larry Fitzgerald, Luke Kuechly, and Adam Vinatieri will receive their gold jackets.

The Packers will host its 25^th annual Family Night at Lambeau Field on Friday, Aug. 7 at 7:30p.m.

Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with warm ups at 7:00 p.m.

A fireworks celebration will take place at the conclusion of the practice.

Brewers make deals at trade deadline

At the Major League Baseball trade deadline, the Milwaukee Brewers made several deals in order to bolster the roster heading into the home stretch of the regular season.

Among the transactions were the Brewers bringing in pitchers Dustin May and Jojo Romero from the St. Louis Cardinals for a pair of prospects.

The Brewers also brought in relief pitcher, Antonio Senzatela, from Colorado, as well as several roster-building moves to build depth.

Milwaukee currently holds the best record in baseball and a five-game lead in the National League Central Division over the Chicago Cubs.

Rafters in final games

Only three games remain in the season for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters as they look to conclude the 2026 season strong.

Rapids plays two games at home on Thursday and Friday when they host Green Bay and Fond du Lac, while ending the year at Fond du Lac on Saturday afternoon.

Game times for the home contests will be at 6:35 p.m. both nights.
