Racine Raiders Football Returns to Radio After Decade-Long Hiatus
RACINE, Wis. – (WRJN) – The Racine Raiders semi-professional football team will return to WRJN airwaves this Saturday. The partnership revives a relationship that began in 1965. The agreement marks the Raiders’ first appearance on the station in nearly a decade and WRJN’s 51st year covering the team.
Play-by-play announcer Don Wadewitz will lead the broadcasts, with analysts Evan Witalison and Emlyn Thomas providing commentary. Games will air on 1400 AM and 99.9 FM in Racine, and 98.1 FM in Kenosha, though some broadcasts may start late if they conflict with Milwaukee Brewers games.
The 2025 season starts Saturday at Historic Horlick Field, with a game against the Tennessee Hornets at 7pm. It’s the teams 72nd season at the field. The schedule this year includes matchups against seven teams that won league or bowl titles last year.
“It just feels right to have the Racine Raiders, Your Hometown Team, back on WRJN,” said team board president Matt Nelson. WRJN General Manager Chris Moreau cited community demand for the reunion, noting the station’s 98-year history in Racine.

The partnership restores one of the longest-running local media-team relationships in sports. Original broadcaster Gary Suhr called games for WRJN starting in 1965, the press box at Horlick is named in honor of Suhr.
