WEC is sharing critical reminders to assist voters before they head to the polls

As the November 3 General Election approaches, the Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) is sharing critical reminders to assist voters before they head to the polls. To start, voters are encouraged to verify their registration status, locate their polling place, and review their sample ballot at Myvote.wi.gov.

For voters holding onto absentee ballots, the WEC strongly recommends returning them in person rather than using the mail at this stage. Contacting local municipal clerks will clarify designated drop-off locations, as all absentee ballots must arrive by 8 p.m. on Election Day to be counted. Additionally, in-person absentee voting—commonly known as early voting—is currently available across the state; hours and locations can be verified through municipal clerk offices.

On Election Day, polling places statewide will remain open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m., with anyone in line by 8 p.m. eligible to cast a ballot. Unregistered residents can still register at their polling site on Election Day, provided they bring an acceptable proof-of-residence document showing their current address.

All voters must present an acceptable photo ID, though the address on the photo ID does not need to reflect a current residence. Information on valid IDs is available at Bring It to the Ballot or by calling 1-866-VOTE-WIS. Finally, the WEC assures the public that election systems are thoroughly protected through public equipment testing and close coordination between local, state, and federal election officials.
