In honor of Veterans Day, the Wisconsin Veterans Museum is extending a warm invitation to veterans and their guests for a morning of free coffee, camaraderie, and history. On Wednesday, November 11, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., visitors can gather at the museum, located at 30 W. Mifflin St. in Madison, to connect with fellow community members and explore the museum’s vibrant galleries.

As part of the special morning, staff will be serving “Rood Awakenings,” a custom coffee blend created specifically in celebration of the museum’s 125th anniversary. Named after Hosea Rood, the museum’s founder and first leader, the blend was developed by Sam Floyd, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and owner of Operation Coffee in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. Floyd will also be present during the event to meet guests and share in the celebration.

Founded 125 years ago by Civil War veterans, the Wisconsin Veterans Museum serves as an educational activity of the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs. Its long-standing mission remains focused on preserving and sharing the stories of Wisconsin veterans while inspiring visitors of all ages. Admission to the Veterans Day Coffee event and the museum galleries is free for all attending veterans and their guests.
