Milwaukee Brewers advance to the World Series for first time in 44 years
The Milwaukee Brewers have advanced to the World Series for the first time since 1982.
The Brewers swept the Los Angeles Dodgers after winning Game 4 of the National League Championship Series, 6-4.
First baseman Jake Bauers was named Most Valuable Player of the series.
Bauers went 4-for-14 (.412) with a home run and a team-high six RBIs across the four games.
He has an amazing story. He only returned to playing baseball because his children needed health insurance and now has been named NLCS MVP.
The center of the sporting universe will now be on Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for the next two weeks. The city hasn’t had this type of sports attention since 2021, when the Milwaukee Bucks won the NBA Finals.
Pat Murphy hasn’t done anything but win since taking over as Brewers manager from Whitefish Bay native Craig Counsell three years ago. He now joins Harvey Kuenn as the only men to lead Milwaukee to a World Series.
It’s hard for Milwaukee to not think about franchise icon Bob Uecker, the longtime voice of the Brewers who died in January 2025.
The Brewers’ opponent has yet to be determined. The Cleveland Guardians lead the Tampa Bay Rays 2-1 in the American League Championship Series.
