The Milwaukee Brewers have won Game 1 of the National League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Milwaukee held on in the end after rookie outfielder Luis Lara’s single in the fifth drove in the go-ahead run to make it 2-1. Neither team scored again.
Brewers relief pitcher Trevor Megill is credited with the save.
Ace Jacob Misiorowski didn’t have his best stuff, manager Pat Murphy said during the broadcast, but was able to leave Dodgers stranded.
In 4.1 innings, Misiorowski gave up five hits, one run, and had five strikeouts. The Brewers bullpen then held the Dodgers scoreless.
Lara, a 21-year-old Venezuelan, came in clutch when it mattered most, driving in outfielder Garrett Mitchell in the fifth. His fellow countryman, outfielder Jackson Chourio, was the only Brewer with multiple hits.
Second baseman Bruce Turang homered in the fourth to make it 1-1.
Game 2 of the NLCS is Monday at 4 p.m.
