Republican nominee for Wisconsin governor Tom Tiffany campaigned in recent days with musician Ted Nugent, who admitted to statutory rape.
Tiffany appeared at an event with Nugent on Oct. 8 in Green Bay.
In a 1998 documentary on VH1’s “Behind the Music,” Nugent admitted having sex with several underage girls. "I was addicted to girls. It was hopeless. It was beautiful," he said.
He also said he had worked to charm their parents.
"I got the stamp of approval of their parents," Nugent said on the video. "I guess they figured better Ted Nugent than some drug-infested punk in high school."
In 1978, 29-year-old Nugent began a relationship with 17-year-old Hawaii native Pele Massa, admitting he persuaded her parents. It was alleged that he tried to become her legal guardian.
Nugent’s 1981 song “Jailbait” describes a statutory rape.
“Well, I don't care if you're just thirteen,” Nugent wrote. “You look too good to be true. I just know that you're probably clean. There's one little thing I got do to you”
In 2013, the musician Courtney Love said she had performed oral sex on Nugent at 14, and that there was a line of young girls waiting to engage in sexual acts.
Tiffany’s campaign didn’t respond to a request for comment.
Election Day is Nov. 3.
