A big thank you to everyone who helped out, turned out, or tuned in to the 40th Anniversary celebration. It was truly one of the highlights of my career. I could not stop smiling and it was a chance to show the talents of the WRCO staff also known as the 'Solid Gold Dancers'. Some money was raised for the Richland Center City Auditorium restoration project through the hard work of many including the Richland FFA Alumni. Some video of the occasion has been posted and now we begin the 41st season of Those Were the Days on WRCO. Civic Media has not sent a memo yet about my armpit performance under the direction of the Maestro Chris Simonson. I am pretty sure that they were proud. My wife was concerned about that skit. My motto has always been to not take yourself too seriously and when you make fun of yourself, you never run out of material.
This Saturday night I will feature comments from some of those that were in attendance at the live show. Todd Coppernoll asked key questions about favorite show memories, songs, albums, and we will playback a few of those this week. I will also feature some records made in Wisconsin by groups from the Badger state and a trip back to the fall of 1975's music survey. That was a great era to grow up. We had the farmers 3 TV station package, and an AM radio. Dad was picking corn to put in the crib, while I was making cool jumps for my 3-speed bike. The Christmas catalog came in the mail, and I was able to circle all of my wants including a Pet Rock and a Six-Million-Dollar Man action figure. I am pretty sure that instead my parents gave me corduroy pants and a V-neck sweater with a dickie.
I will be absent from the studio this week as my presence is required at a family wedding. Our regular features return next week. Have a great weekend and enjoy the beautiful fall weather! I hope you are outstanding in your field.
