KENOSHA, Wis. (WRJN) - Kenosha County District Attorney Xavier Solis’ law license was reinstated Tuesday, less than a day after it was suspended over his failure to cooperate with an investigation into alleged misconduct.
The Office of Lawyer Regulation said Solis’ license was restored after it determined he was cooperating with the investigation. Under a Wisconsin Supreme Court rule, a suspended lawyer can be reinstated when the office is satisfied that the lawyer is cooperating.
On Monday, the office said Solis was barred from practicing law in Wisconsin for “willfully failing to cooperate with one or more OLR investigations into alleged misconduct.”
A brief memo sent Tuesday said the license was reinstated effective that day. The office did not release details about the investigation.
Wisconsin law requires district attorneys to hold law licenses.
Solis was elected in 2024 and became Kenosha County’s first Republican district attorney in more than a century. Earlier this year, a judge sanctioned him over AI-generated court citations that were described as “hallucinated and false.”
