Street Closures, Parking Restrictions Set for Kenosha Classic Cruise-In

KENOSHA, Wis. (WRJN) – More than 1,500 classic cars are expected in downtown Kenosha on Saturday for a free lakefront cruise-in that will bring street closures, traffic changes, parking restrictions and large crowds.

The Kenosha Classic Cruise-In is scheduled for Sept. 5 from about 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Spectators and participating classic-car owners can attend at no cost. Food, drinks, vendors and downtown businesses will be part of the event, and attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food donations for Salvation Army collection bins.

Traffic changes will begin around 6 a.m. as cars arrive and organizers prepare the display area. Several downtown streets will be closed to regular traffic.

56th Street will be one-way eastbound from Third Avenue, continuing counterclockwise around Calabria Way. 54th Street will be one-way westbound from Calabria Way to Sixth Avenue. Temporary no-parking signs also will be posted along parts of the route.

People headed to the Kenosha Public Museum, Civil War Museum or Southport Marina are advised to approach from the south, using northbound Third Avenue to 56th Street.

Visitors can park in free downtown lots, the free garage on Eighth Avenue east of the post office, or street spaces outside restricted areas. Officials recommend arriving early because lakefront parking is expected to fill quickly.

Kenosha streetcars will operate free of charge from 10:35 a.m. to 6:35 p.m. Saturday. Visitors also can park farther away and walk or use the lakefront trolley.
