A critical window for public involvement is closing as Midcontinent Grid Solutions (MGS) advances its proposed 765-kV BECI transmission line project. This 190-mile infrastructure development, which aims to span a nine-county region, is currently seeking feedback to determine potential routes before MGS submits its final plan to the Wisconsin Public Service Commission in early 2027. With an initial public feedback deadline set for September 7, time is of the essence for landowners and community members to ensure their voices are heard.

To assist the public in understanding the project’s impact, creating maps, and preparing effective public comments, a series of workshops is being held across the region. Participants are encouraged to bring parcel numbers from their tax bills to these sessions to help with site-specific mapping and planning.

The remaining public workshops are scheduled throughout the coming days. The Lloyd Community Center will host sessions, tomorrow, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM; Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM; and Friday, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Additional sessions will be held at the Brewer Public Library, in Richland Center, on Thursday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Friday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. A final session is scheduled for Saturday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Clarson Residence at 24939 Cardinal Crest Lane in Richland Center.

For those unable to attend in person, MGS has established an online platform at mgs-projects.com/BECI, where informational slideshows and digital comment cards are available. Active participation remains the most effective way for constituents to influence the project’s planning and protect local interests.
