RACINE, Wis. (WRJN) – The Racine Raiders will host the Midwest Renegades in a Mid-West United Football League semifinal Saturday at Historic Horlick Athletic Field, seeking to extend an undefeated season and move within one victory of another championship.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m., with gates opening at 5 p.m. The Raiders, the No. 1 seed, earned a first-round bye and will face the lowest remaining seed from the quarterfinals. The league championship game is scheduled for Aug. 15.
Racine finished the regular season 11-0, winning the Central Division and the MWUF’s top overall seed. The Raiders repeatedly overwhelmed opponents, recording shutouts of 54-0 and 55-0 against the Burlington Blue Devils, 59-0 against the Midwest Vengeance, 46-0 over the Dubuque Miners and 27-0 against the Illinois Lions. They closed the regular season with a 39-12 victory at the Sheboygan County SaberCats.
Founded in 1953 by Racine restaurateur Wigs Konicek, the Raiders are among the nation’s oldest continuously operating semipro football teams. The current community-owned, nonprofit organization relaunched in 1986 after earlier versions of the franchise folded.

Racine claims 11 national championships, the most among U.S. semipro teams, and more than 650 victories. Recent titles came in 2012, 2014, 2023 and 2024.
