Chippewa Falls Hope Village Planning Significant Expansion

Hope Village is preparing for a major expansion project at its tiny home village in Chippewa Falls as the need for their services increases.

The site already features a number of tiny home transitional housing units, affordable apartment units, and community spaces for Chippewa Valley residents struggling with homelessness. Much of the power for the housing units also comes from solar arrays installed at the site by members of the Chippewa Falls High School Green Team.

According to Hope Village officials, the expansion plan will include the construction of two more six-unit apartment buildings, two more duplex buildings, and another multi-purpose building in the tiny home village. In total, the expansion will create four new one-bedroom apartment units, four new two-bedroom apartment units, and eight new three-bedroom apartment units.

The planned multi-purpose building will also feature offices, a meeting room, and a workshop for residents to use. In addition to the new buildings, the organization is planning to install a new playground at the site next summer.

Hope Village launched a capital campaign to raise the needed funding to undertake the expansion project and received additional financial support through state grants and federal funding sources. With that funding in hand, organization officials say they expect to wrap up construction work on all five of the new buildings next year.

Hope Village is also still in the process of renovating the former Indianhead Motel site in Chippewa Falls. When completed, that site will feature an additional 26 affordable efficiency units. Organization officials expect to wrap up construction on that project in September.
