Two unique community events coming to the Readstown Library
Excitement is building in Readstown this June as the local public library hosts two unique community events centered on creativity and craftsmanship. On Monday, June 22, at 4:00 PM, the library invites residents of all ages to celebrate local automotive history at A Model-A for Father’s Day. This special program will highlight the ingenuity of local resident Ernest Kramer, who designed and hand-built a Model-A automobile from scratch. Attendees will have the rare opportunity to examine the craftsmanship behind the car, hear the story of its creation, and learn about the patience and engineering involved in bringing a classic vehicle to life.
Following that, the community is invited back on Sunday, June 28, for a free Repair Clinic held at the Advancement Building, 208 W. Center Street, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Partnering with the volunteer group Fix-It Folks, this event encourages residents to reduce waste by repairing household items with the help of experienced coaches. Offerings include assistance with knife and scissor sharpening, costume jewelry, books, fabric, electrical items, and bicycles. The afternoon also features STEM-inspired activities, such as a Tool Academy for learning about hand and power tools and a Take-Apart Station for curious minds.
The highlight of the day arrives at 2:30 PM with a one-time-only performance of Spark Burmaster’s Space & Time Travel Show, an imaginative experience featuring a handcrafted Sky Crane and a flux-capacitor-powered time machine.
