American Players Theatre (APT) in Spring Green is celebrating a landmark 2026 season. Fresh off receiving the 2026 Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre—the first-ever win for a Wisconsin theater—the company begins its 47th season this Saturday, June 13, with William Shakespeare’s As You Like It.

The opening night performance, scheduled for 8:00 PM at the Hill Theatre, is directed by Core Company member Laura Rook. The production features Samantha Newcomb as Rosalind, alongside Sola Thompson, Elizabeth Ledo, and Derrick Moore.

This season opening follows the company’s recent honor at the 79th Tony Awards ceremony in New York City, where Artistic Director Brenda DeVita and Managing Director Sara Young accepted the award on behalf of the organization. The Tony Award, presented by City National Bank, recognizes APT’s sustained artistic excellence and significant contributions to the growth of theatre nationally.
