RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- Area residents are cleaning up from Wednesday’s storms while preparing for another possible round today.
The storms prompted a tornado warning in eastern Fond du Lac County shortly after 3 pm. Meanwhile a straight wind of 94 miles an hour hit Oshkosh at about the same time causing damage to trees, power lines, and some homes.
Dodge County also saw quite a bit of damage. Winds destroyed the Culver’s Barn in Beaver Dam and a number of buildings in Horicon’s downtown were damaged with the roof ripped off of one building. There was also damage in Lomira which included roof damage to an apartment building.
In Sheboygan a lightning strike caused a house fire in the 1300 block of South 9th Street. Damage was limited to a roof turret.
The National Weather Service will be doing a damage assessment in Dodge County to determine if damage was caused by straight winds or a tornado.
