Memorial Day events will be happening in the area Monday

A Memorial Day Mass will be held at St. Killian’s Catholic Church in Bear Valley at 9:00. Following the service there will be refreshments and fellowship in the church basement hall.

The Spring Green American Legion Post 253 will hold its Memorial Day program at Veterans Park in Spring Green starting at 9:00. Following the program a chicken barbeque will be held at the Spring Green Community Center from 11:00 to 1:00. Cost of a meal is $15 which includes half of chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, beans and a cookie. Meals will be carryout only.

Bower-Gunnill-Dalton VFW Post 2267 will host Richland Center’s Memorial Day Parade and Services. The parade line-up will begin at East 3rd and North Park Streets, next to the large hospital parking lot. The Chapter VII Troop carrier will be available for Veterans who cannot ‘march’ or need a ride to the location and will leave the American Legion Post 13 parking area by 9:30. The parade starts at 10:00 proceeding onto Church Street, turning right on 8th Street then turning right into Saloutos Lane at the cemetery. Services will begin about 10:30. Weather permitting, a fly-over is scheduled at 11:00 by the Buena Vista Flying Club. Following the services the W. H. Bennett Unit 71 Woman’s Relief Corp Water service for those lost at sea will be held at American Legion Post 13. In case of inclement weather, services will be at the high school field house starting at 10:00 with a slightly revised program. Military Veterans are encouraged to participate along with all units that reflect a patriotic theme. The public is also encouraged to participate whether traveling in the parade or as observers. Members of Lone Rock American Legion Post 383, and the Legion Auxiliary, will hold their Memorial Day Services. The first event will be held at Battery Park in Lone Rock on at 10:00. The second event will be held at St Malachy Church Cemetery in Clyde at 11:00.

A Memorial Day Program will be held at the Bloom City Cemetery at 10:00 to honor fallen veterans. All veterans will have flowers placed at their gravestones. 

American Legion Post 220 of Soldiers Grove will hold a Memorial Day Program Observance at 11:00 at the Memorial Wall in the Soldiers Grove Park. A picnic meal and social will be held at the William Schoville American Legion Post 220 from 11:00 until gone. The meal includes Burgers, brats, hot dogs, salad, chips and dessert. A free will offering for the meal is suggested. Vets eat for free.
