GBAPS appoints Samantha Meister to Board

GREEN BAY, WI—(WGBW)— The Green Bay Area Public Schools (GBAPS) Board of Education selected Samantha Meister to fill the seat vacated when Kou Lee resigned in May. The board voted on Monday to appoint Meister.

Meister was chosen from a field of 16 applicants. She’s an Associate Professor of Education at UW-Green Bay. She has served as a boundary committee member with the GBAPS. She has previously worked closely with the board on literacy projects and programs.

The board’s vote to choose Meister was not unanimous. 

Andrew Becker and Alex Mineau cast the dissenting votes. Their preferred candidate was former School Board member Rick Crosson, who would have been the only black board member. 

Samantha Meister will serve until April 2026, when an election will be held.
