CANTON, Ohio (Civic Media) – Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Sterling Sharpe is the newest member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Sharpe, in his 26th year of eligibility, was finally called to the Hall after a seven-year career cut short due to a serious neck injury.

He was introduced by his brother, Shannon, also a member of the Hall of Fame.

“I’m the only one [in the Hall of Fame] that can say this: I’m the second-best player in my own family,” Shannon said.

Sterling Sharpe was a first-round draft pick, seventh overall, in 1988. He went on to start all 112 games he played in as a Packer, earning three first-team All-Pro honors and five Pro Bowl selections.

Sharpe finished his career with 595 catches for 8,137 yards and 65 touchdowns, with the number of catches a record for the most by a player at the time in their first seven seasons.

He also caught 18 touchdown passes in his final season, tied for third in NFL history all-time.

“On behalf of the entire Green Bay Packers organization, I want to congratulate Sterling on his long overdue election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He left an indelible mark as one of the greatest players of his generation, while also directly contributing to the revival of the Packers during the 1990s,” Mark Murphy, Packers President/CEO, said. “We are extremely happy for Sterling and his family and are forever grateful for all that he gave and accomplished with the Packers.”

Sharpe becomes the 29th member of the Green Bay Packers to be selected to the Hall of Fame.

The other three selected in 2025 include Eric Allen, Jared Allen, and Antonio Gates.

Sharpe is a member of the NFL’s All-Decade Team for the 1990’s.
