City of Racine Mourns the Passing of Alderwoman Mollie Jones

RACINE, Wis (WRJN) – The City of Racine is in mourning.  Alderwoman Mollie Jones has passed away, with a statement out from the city informing people of the news. 

Jones was just re-elected last year to the 2nd District.  Below is the statement from Leslie Flynn, Communications Director for the City of Racine.

The City of Racine is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Alder Mollie Jones, who dedicated her life to serving our community with passion and commitment.

“Mollie Jones was a fierce advocate for her constituents. She seemed to know everyone by name,” stated Racine Mayor Cory Mason. “I had the pleasure of working with her on everything from voter access to restoring brick pavers on College Avenue. She was an exceptional public servant and a dear friend. She will be sorely missed.”

As the longtime Chair of the Public Works and Services Committee, Alder Jones played a pivotal role in strengthening Racine’s infrastructure and public services. Her impact extended well beyond the Council, as she served on numerous boards and commissions, always championing the best interests of the community. Her legacy is one of dedication, advocacy, and a profound commitment to the people of Racine.

“I join with all those who were fortunate enough to know Alder Jones as we mourn her passing,” said Mason. “Over the coming days and weeks, we will pause to reflect on her life and legacy to our community. On behalf of the City of Racine, I offer heartfelt condolences to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who loved her. Her passing is a tremendous loss, and she will be greatly missed.”
