Where were you the night the Atlanta Falcons (1-2) ran all over the Green Bay Packers (1-2) at Lambeau Field?
Like Mike Vick at Lambeau in 2003, Green Bay had no answer for the Atlanta offense on Thursday night, losing to the Falcons, 35-14.
Atlanta rushed for 244 yards to Green Bay’s 17. Star running back Bijan Robinson rushed for 194 yards on 29 carries with two touchdowns. Backup Brian Robinson Jr. had a touchdown of his own and 50 yards.
The Atlanta offensive line opened lanes for the backs all night, allowing for quarterback Michael Penix Jr. to find wideout Drake London throughout the evening. London finished with 194 yards on nine catches.
Offensively, the Packers really had nothing going because they couldn’t establish a running game and the offensive line struggled at times throughout the night. Multiple starting lineman are out injured for Green Bay.
Quarterback Jordan Love threw a lot of passes as a result, but the team wasn’t able to find success on third down at a good enough clip and he struggled under pressure. Love finished the game 28-for-53, 312 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
“It was a humbling night,” head coach Matt LaFleur said postgame. “Certainly, I don’t think anybody is pleased about this. I don’t know what we’re doing well offensively. It was a butt whooping.
”Give a lot of credit to Atlanta and some of these other defenses that we played. We’re not always executing and certainly there’s some times where we got some bad play calls. It’s all of us.”
Love said, “It’s a very disappointing feeling right now, how we went out and played today. Like I said, myself to start. A lot of stuff to improve on. The feeling I have right now is not good. It always starts with me, being the leader of the team.”
Love admitted he struggled to execute given a non-existent running game.
“It’s not a great feeling as an offense to have repeated drives that don’t go anywhere,” he said. “But at the end of the day, we gotta still fight.”
Now, Green Bay will travel to Florida to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-2) on Sunday, Oct. 4.
