Packers RB Josh Jacobs pleads no contest to misdemeanor charges

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges Thursday in Brown County.

He was convicted on the battery charge and fined $1,000. The court accepted a deferred judgement agreement on the criminal damage to property charge. Another hearing is scheduled for Sept. 10, 2027.

“I fully understand the seriousness of the situation, and I take full responsibility,” Jacobs said during the hearing.

On the criminal damage to property charge, Judge Marc A. Hammer accepted the no contest plea on the following conditions: No further criminal acts, no contact with the victim, supervision, counseling and restitution to the victim.

Jacobs has been accused of throwing his girlfriend to the ground, causing her to strike her head, among other allegations following an argument over whether Jacobs was cheating on her.

The May arrest preceded criminal charges on Aug. 27 in Brown County. Jacobs avoided felonies and instead was charged with two misdemeanors — battery and criminal damage to property.

Jacobs' attorneys, David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Clarence Duchac, said in a statement to ESPN that the criminal damage to property charge will be dismissed after 12 months upon completion of the deferred judgment agreement.

"With this agreement, Josh has accepted responsibility for his conduct and resolved this matter," Jacobs' attorneys said in the statement. "Today's resolution is set against a career long history of Josh's community work while in the NFL, which has centered on the circumstances of his early life."

Jacobs is now likely to be removed from the NFL commissioner’s exempt list but also likely will face a suspension. Whether or not the NFL makes a decision by Sunday’s season opener in Minnesota is to be determined.
