The Wisconsin Joint Legislative Council is a 22-member statutory committee that establishes interim study committees to research major public policy issues and develop legislation. The council recently announced its 2025-2027 study committees, which include the Study Committee on Cryptocurrency, the Study Committee on Laws to Restore Floodplains, and the Study Committee on Cemeteries.
These study committees are made up of both lawmakers and citizen experts, and they are staffed by nonpartisan Legislative Council attorneys who provide expert testimony and research. The committees meet throughout the legislative interim to evaluate these problems, build consensus, and draft proposed legislation to be introduced in the next legislative session
