Milwaukee County residents affected by April 2026 floods can apply for disaster relief here
Milwaukee County has been approved by President Donald Trump’s administration for disaster relief from the April floods and homeowners or renters can now apply for assistance.
“Thank you to Governor Evers and Wisconsin’s Congressional Delegation for advocating on behalf of Wisconsin communities,” said County Executive David Crowley. “Many Milwaukee County residents hadn’t even finished recovering from the August 2025 floods when the April storms hit. I’m grateful they now have access to these federal resources to help them rebuild and move forward.”
Gov. Tony Evers requested a Major Disaster Declaration for affected Wisconsin counties during the storms between April 13-23. Not to be confused with the August 2025 historic flooding. The request for April’s floods was approved by the Trump administration on June 30.
FEMA Individual Assistance unlocks financial aid for eligible homeowners and renters that were affected by the storms whose disaster-related expenses aren’t fully covered by insurance. Financial assistance can help cover basic repairs needed to make a home safe, sanitary, and livable.
To be eligible you must be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified alien. FEMA must be able to confirm your identity. Your damaged home must be your primary residency. Your insurance, or other forms of disaster assistance received, cannot meet your disaster-caused needs. And your necessary expenses and serious needs are directly caused by a declared disaster.
Residents whose homes sustained losses or damage can now apply for FEMA Individual Assistance online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-3362.
