
American Players Theatre, of Spring Green, has won a Tony Award. Each year, one Tony is awarded for Regional Theatre.
Along with bragging rights, American Players Theatre will receive a $25,000 grant.
This prestigious honor is awarded by the “American Theatre Wing” and “The Broadway League” to a regional company that has displayed a continuous level of artistic achievement contributing to the growth of theatre nationally. It marks a massive milestone for the organization and the state:
First in Wisconsin
APT is the first theater company in the state of Wisconsin to ever win this award.
About the Theatre: Founded in 1977, the acclaimed nonprofit is situated on 110 wooded acres in Spring Green. They run nine plays annually, in rotating repertory from June through November, featuring a flagship outdoor amphitheater and the smaller indoor Touchstone Theatre.
Upcoming Season:
The company’s season is set to open on June 6, featuring productions like As You Like It and Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya.
