May Day Walkout and March to Wisconsin State Capitol
Hundreds of students and workers join in walkout and march along East Washington Avenue to protest and honor International Workers’ Day; walkouts happening across Wisconsin
A group of protestors grew as they marched down East Washington Avenue to the Wisconsin State Capitol Thursday. May Day walkouts and demonstrations are happening across the state, nation, and world.

Those on the scene say the march includes students who walked out of classes at Madison East High School. Students from Madison West also leaving school to join the protest.
Officials with Madison Police say the group started from the 2000 block of East Washington Avenue, continuing toward the Capitol, where a larger event is planned to recognize International Workers’ Day.

May Day, also known as International Workers’ Day, is marked globally to honor the labor movement and advocate for workers’ rights. The Capitol rally is bringing together a diverse group of participants, including students, labor organizers, workers, and community members.
