WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis (WFHR/WIRI) – Make the holiday better with butter! Six months into her reign as Wisconsin’s 77th Alice in Dairyland, Halei Heinzel stops by to speak with James J. Malouf for an interview on Midday Magazine. She shared facts about butter including how it can be used during the holidays.

Butter Makes the Holidays Better

“Absolutely, butter definitely makes the holidays better, but I like to say you should make it the best holiday yet with Wisconsin butter,” Halei shares. From baking to having on the table for potatoes and rolls, butter is a part of the meal.

Elevate the Meal with Compound Butter

Compound butters make the holidays better by adding a depth of flavor. “My new favorite way to use butter, as Alice, is compound butters. These are a great way to elevate your next gathering.” By using ingredients already in your pantry and refrigerator you can create many different flavor profiles.

What Makes Better Butter?

Just two simple ingredients are used to create butter: cream and salt. If you buy unsalted butter, it’s just cream. It takes 21 pounds of dairy, or 21/2 gallons of milk to make just one pound of butter. With dairy being a top agricultural product of Wisconsin, there is plenty to supply the 13 butter processing plants in our state, “Making Wisconsin one of the top two butter producing states.”

Other Butter Uses for the Holiday and beyond

“All butters are really wonderful” Halei suggests what she and her family did at a recent visit, “We had a great butter board that had like four or five different varieties of compound butters. They were great for those mashed potatoes or steak or whatever you’re eating with your holiday meal.” For more creative ways butter makes the holidays better check out Alice in Dairyland  on facebook, other socials or the Alice in Dairyland website.
