U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-Wis., bested Democrat Kyle Kilbourn to represent Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District during Tuesday’s election.

The Associated Press called the race for Tiffany at about 9:52 p.m. By 1028 a.m. Wednesday, vote totals showed he received 274,110 votes, or 63.6 percent, compared to Kilbourn’s 156,730 votes, or 36.4 percent, with about 99 percent of precincts reporting.

The 7th Congressional District consists of the northwestern part of Wisconsin and includes the cities of Wausau and Superior.

In the House, Tiffany serves on the Committee on the Judiciary and the Committee on Natural Resources. Tiffany was born in Minnesota and grew up in Pierce County. He graduated from the UW-River Falls. He was elected to the state Assembly in 2010 and was elected to the state Senate in 2012 until he ran for the U.S. House. He has a wife and three children.

Kilbourn is a design specialist. He grew up in North Dakota, attended the University of Minnesota and was awarded a doctorate in product design and innovation from the University of Southern Denmark. He lives in northern Wisconsin with his husband.
