MANITOWOC, WI–(WGBW&WISS)– The Brown County District Attorney’s Office has issued a criminal complaint against retired Manitowoc County Metro Drug Unit Lieutenant David Remiker. Remiker is charged with one count of misconduct in office.

In a press release, the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office said the charge stems from an internal audit conducted in February 2024. The audit revealed several thousand dollars of asset forfeiture funds were not properly deposited into designated accounts. The Sheriff’s Office immediately requested the Wisconsin Department of Justice to investigate the audit findings.

The press release says, “This charge reflects solely on the actions of one individual and does not represent the 113 dedicated and hardworking members of the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office.”

Remiker retired from the Sheriff’s Office on January 31, 2024.
