Waukesha County Fair Opens with New Tech, Road Alerts
WAUKESHA, Wis. (WAUK) – The Waukesha County Fair, Wisconsin’s oldest county fair, kicked off Wednesday with a mix of local talent, traditional attractions, and new technology, while organizers urged visitors to plan for road construction near the fairgrounds.
Fair officials are advising attendees to be aware of lane restrictions on Grandview Boulevard from I-94 south to Northview Road, as well as on the Moreland Bridge over Fox River and Highway J.
In a move towards modernization, the fair has introduced an electronic ticketing system for all midway rides. Fairgoers can now purchase electronic cards and wristbands from large kiosks, replacing the traditional paper tickets.
The fair’s opening day features local singer-songwriter Ryan McIntyre on the main stage, alongside popular attractions like the truck and tractor pull. Running through Sunday, the event will showcase a lineup of national acts, including Rodney Atkins, Daughtry, and Bret Michaels.
